Tell me about Invisalign at Austin Family Dentistry.

Invisalign is a wonderful option for straightening crooked teeth on adults and teenagers without having to deal with the hassle and visibility of braces. Invisalign consists of a series of clear aligners used to straighten the teeth. Most of our patients with mild to moderate crowding or spaces can complete Invisalign in about six months. How does it compare to braces and other orthodontic options?

For adult and teenage patients, a huge benefit of Invisalign is that you cannot see the aligners compared to the metal wires and brackets of braces. In the past four or five years, Invisalign has become a much quicker process than traditional braces, making speed another one of Invisalign’s many benefits. The majority of patients can complete the Invisalign process and have straight teeth in six to eight months vs. braces that generally take a year to a year and a half.

What to expect once you complete Invisalign treatment:

Another advantage of Invisalign is that once completed, the patient receives invisible retainers to use for a long period of time. If the patient loses the retainer, we can easily reorder the same one. Invisalign aligners and retainers can be shipped to the office quickly. With braces, if you lose your retainer, the retainers take more time to make and mold. A patient’s teeth could begin to shift or become crooked again before their new retainer would be ready.
